About the Band

The Citizens Concert Band is a community band in northwestern Vermont. We play a series of free, outdoor summer concerts in St. Albans and neighboring towns. We are also available for hire to perform at other events in the area. The band has a long and rich history dating back to 1947.

New members (high school age through adult) are always welcome. We strive to create an environment of creativity, musicianship, and most importantly, the fun and camaraderie of playing in a band. Please contact us if you are interested in joining the band.

Our Conductor

Jeremy Berger studied music education at the Hartt School of Music, receiving a Minor in Music Education alongside a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Hartford. Jeremy has conducted the Citizens Concert Band since 2016. Prior to the Citizens Concert Band, Jeremy conducted a number of small and medium-size ensembles in Illinois, Connecticut, and upstate Vermont before being named conductor of the Fairfax, Fletcher, Westford (VT) Band in 2013.

In addition to his conducting career, Jeremy has played a variety of brass instruments in ensembles ranging from Classical and Jazz to Polka to classic Broadway musicals, winning a number of Illinois solo and Ensemble awards, and has recorded an album with a well-known Chicago Blues artist, Shirley Kind. His professional affiliations have included membership in the National Association for Music Education (formerly the Music Educators National Conference) and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Jeremy holds a master's degree in Information Technology from DePaul University, and spends his days working in the IT field.
